In Cyprus...
Visit Nissi Beach and Fig Tree Bay, two white sand beaches on the island that are taking steps to become 'green' beaches. We've been working with the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative (CSTI) and the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) to make sure your beach experience is second to none. The highest standards of sand and water cleanliness, recycling bins, sustainably made beach furniture and plants unique to the area are just some of the changes visible on these beaches.
In Sri Lanka...
If you are staying in the Bentota area, it's likely you'll come across the trained Beach Operators. Formally known as 'beach boys', these local men used to hassle tourists to try and earn a living. But now, thanks to customer service training, the beach operators are recognisable in their branded tshirts and ready to offer you a fantastic service on your next visit to the beach!
You can be green on beach holidays by making sure you put litter in bins provided, refreshing yourself in locally owned cafes and bars and by using the services of local guides.
