Make Holidays Greener is a campaign led by ABTA, with support from Travelife and industry charity, The Travel Foundation.
This website aims to help holidaymakers learn more about greener holidays and to encourage those working in the travel industry to get involved – in particular with our Big Holiday Beach Clean.
ABTA has been a trusted travel brand for over 65 years. Our purpose is to help our Members to grow their businesses successfully and sustainably, and to help their customers travel with confidence.
The ABTA brand stands for support, protection and expertise. This means consumers have confidence in ABTA and a strong trust in ABTA Members. These qualities are core to us as they ensure that holidaymakers remain confident in the holiday products that they buy from our Members. We help our Members and their customers navigate through today's changing travel landscape by raising standards in the industry; offering schemes of financial protection; providing an independent complaints resolution service should something go wrong; giving guidance on issues from sustainability to health and safety and by presenting a united voice to government to ensure the industry and the public get a fair deal.

The Travel Foundation is an independent charity working with the travel industry towards a sustainable future.
We do this in two ways:
- By running projects overseas that help to demonstrate the good that sustainable tourism can bring. For example, we developed six self drive routes in Cyprus for holidaymakers that help spread the benefits of tourism to inland communities.
- By developing tools, communications and guidance for the tourism industry to help them operate in a sustainable way, securing the future of their business, as well as conserving the environment and ensuring that local communities benefit from tourism.
We are funded by customer donations to charitable funds at many of the UK's leading travel companies, as well as corporate donations.
Travelife is an international certification scheme, promoting sustainability within the tourism industry. It helps tour operators, hotels and accommodations to manage and monitor their social and environmental impacts, as well as communicate their achievements to customers. It is an easy to use, step-by-step programme which provides members with a practical approach to improve their business.
