Falkland Islands Tourist Board
In the last year the Falkland Islands Tourist Board has stopped supplying plastic bags, they have only small paper bags, or visitors can purchase reusable shopper bags.
They are also working with accommodation providers to encourage them to be more sustainable alongside their normal 1/2/3/4/5 star accreditation. This looks at various elements of sustainability from encouraging guest to reuse their towels to how efficient the white goods in the property are.
They benefit from a windy and sunny weather system, so many of the out-of-town properties rely on renewable energy already, and in town the local wind farm supplies on average 35% of their energy.
